Dr. Areeb Ahmed (PhD Izmir Institute of Technology, Turkey)

Associate Professor
PROFILE SUMMARY

I have an overall 9 years of teaching, training, and research experience in national & international organizations. Presently, I am also associated with the F.A Savaci Lab at Izmir Institute of Technology, Turkey where I have served as a Research Associate and PhD Fellow in Electronics & Telecommunications on the Turkish Government Fully-Funded Research Grant from 2013 to 2018. The group carries out research on the effects of alpha-stable noise on communication systems, power systems, smart grids and memristive systems; where my role was to use random noise as a carrier to establish random communication systems for covert transmission. For this work, I have recently been awarded IEEE Turkey Best Research Paper Award in Telecommunications for the year 2018 from the pool of 706 papers written by 1488 authors from 417 different top research organizations & universities.
Previously, I had also served as a Research Assistant at University of Teesside, United Kingdom from 2010 to 2011 where I studied MSc in Electronics & Telecommunications on International Student Scholarship Award. After finishing my postgraduate, I started my academic career at Usman Institute of Technology (Affiliated with NED University), Pakistan as a Lecturer & Undergraduate Research Supervisor where I served for almost 2 years before accepting the research invitation from the Turkish Government for doctoral studies.
I have 8 Journal & 5 Conference publications indexed in Web of Science/ISI. I also serve as a reviewer for various IEEE, IET and ACES indexed journals & conferences. Moreover, I am also member of IEEE, IET, ACES and PEC as well. Apart from academic background, I have also remained Chairperson of IEEE Communication Society, FAST-NUCES, Karachi Campus where I have been an active member of various technology related extracurricular activities.
